Project-starter

~ Dr. Doctor ~
He'll have a shirt & tie, wool pants & Dr's coat. & I'm trying to make a stethascope with pieces from the hardware store...
~ 3 Knitted Babes ~
The book Knitted Babes was new at the library, & although I hadn't much interest in these dolls, borrowing the book inspired me to make a few. Their clothing was what looked most fun to make, so I haven't even gotten to the fun part yet -
The middle girl will have yellow hair.

Georges Rouault (1871-1958)

Le Christ (1937)

Christ en Croix (1936, etching)

Rouault was a Fauvist/Expressionist painter, ceramicist, maker of stained glass, & printmaker in lithography & etching -

"I am a believer and a conformist. Anyone can revolt; it is more difficult silently to obey our own interior promptings, and to spend our lives finding sincere and fitting means of expression for our temperaments and our gifts..."

Celebrating Mitten Day with BlueSkyKnits

I have something extra cool to share on Mitten Day this year; BlueSkyKnits on Etsy. Take a minute to see these Beautiful handknit mittens in her shop. I'm illustrating Mitten Day with BlueSkyKnits & for very little, you may have your very own Maine mittens. (Mine are on their way)

Mitten Day is a domestic US holiday. My logic could easily be challenged; 'what about all of the amazing mittens from Latvia, Scandinavia, Russia, & other places?' As the creator of Mitten Day I've arbitrarily confined the holiday to the US. This is my kingdom.

Mitten Day is irrevocally tied to my love of Robin Hansen's mitten books; Fox, Geese, & Fences, and Flying Geese & Partridge Feet which feature traditional patterns from Maine and include the story behind each pattern.

Have a good Mitten Day. I'd love to hear how you celebrate ~

Desktop

I haven't seen the top of my desk for so long. So long. I summoned a bit of willingness today, put on my Richard Scarry ring, & went to it. Whew! The desktop is still there. No need to go overboard on this project - if I can dust off the center I permit myself some stacks on the perimeter.

So many what I'll call micro - collections can be a burden at times. I can't sustain the willingness to order them all. Here are a couple, others are not fit for public consumption.
