Frohe Geburtstag to me.

Someone who loves me gave me this. It couldn't be a nicer gift, & this book will make the cut as I labor to reduce the tonnage that is our book collection. (I really wanted to use the word tonnage; please forgive if it's incorrectly applied).
We have too many books! It's time to get rid of a considerable portion of them. ( deliberately choosing the vague term considerable...)
This morning while visiting Lost Button Studio, I came across this article with several helpful links on how to thin out my library. Despite confusing & oxymoronic phrases like 'limit book clutter' I skimmed these links & bookmarked them for later reference.
I hope I can do this! With so many people in our family almost every book is special to somebody.

I understand how having too many books can mentally weigh you down. But it is extremely hard for me to get rid of books, esp. the kids' books. Oh, the memories! I try to thin out constantly, though, and take the ones the kids either don't like or don't read anymore to The Growing Place in the hope that other kids will benefit from my wonderful books (ha). I'll have to check out the link you put on there. But it's tough --- books are like friends, you know?

We have bookshelves on one living room wall & in every bedroom too. You could say they dominate the house. Re: getting rid of some - almost the only things I've ever regretted getting rid of were books. They can sit here for years & then I decide I need something. Some reference books are not as needed anymore, but only a few.
