Summer nightgown drawn from the project pile.

I've been saving this silhouette for several years & haven't framed it, so I decided to use it on a nightgown. Yes, I'm jumping on the silhouette bandwagon.

I was trying to make something similar to a dress pattern given in Blueprint magazine a couple of years ago. The construction is very simple; a straight tube of fabric, gathered at the neck with a drawstring. I used a white XL t-shirt.

For the Blueprint dress the drawstring was made of soft cotton rope, but since my project will be a nightgown, I wanted the drawstring to have some give, to be soft, & to be plain; no big bows or knots. I dug out a perfect piece of soft cotton knit (vintage!) which matched well. I did have to add some wide eyelet to the bottom; my girl is tall these days.

Here's the link to the original Blueprint article & instructions.

I recognize that sweet girl in the silhouette. Didn't we do those together at an "American Girl Club" gathering over at Michele's, many moons ago? Anyway, I like what you did a lot. Between just you and me, I sort of have a serious pajama fetish.

YES! Good past-activity-retention! I have been wanting to frame those forever...
THanks for your comment & I'm very intrigued by your pajama fetish. Wonder what pretty things are in your drawers...? I sort of tend to the mix & don't match look.

Well, I'm going to make a toilet-paper holder out of mine!
"Past-activity-retention", ha, Jennifer, you crack me up.

PS That night gown is sweet. I didn't know Melanie has a nightwear fetish. Me thinks I may have to casually peek in her drawers next time I'm there.
