Between now & Christmas, I'll be posting pictures of things I've been archiving.

Christmas Thrift

Just a cutie.

I really never see these anymore for my price (.50 or less, although I'd go a little higher now). Three shapes. The tallest stack are the nicest ones.

Several bells & this (German?) little girl; who had a flag or something stuck into her abdomen. If I get a Lego-mindstorm, I might make her a little "Fun is always in style" flag. heh!

In progress for CecilyInk

I was asked to create a pair of slippers using CecilyInk's 'Flourish' design. She makes beautiful Letterpress cards & stationery. Here they are so far...

New in my shop & sold.

I think this sweater was predominately Angora; very soft.

I am using almost entirely vintage & 'reclaimed' materials
in my holiday gift-wrap.
*glassine paper; shiny & semi-transparent
*vintage rayon ribbon in ivory
*tiny vintage glass ornaments represent holly berries
*a scrap of (felted sweater) wool makes a holly leaf.
*gift tag (new materials)

New in my shop.

Lilac angora & wool felted knit fabric, hand-dyed.

Pom poms are made with an assortment of special yarns; angora, silk, shetland wool, mohair, & shiny rayon thread.

Unabashed Thanksgiving Revelry

Featured Buyer: Shopping through the Lens of American Craft Council with Monica & Andrew

On the 21st I had a thrill - I came home & opened Etsy only to find my slippers on the front page. Nice! But that was not all ... this particular treasury was extra-special. 'In the spirit of Thanksgiving & looking back at American History', the Etsy Featured Buyers were Monica Hampton, Director of Education and Andrew Wagner, Editor-in-Chief, American Craft Magazine, American Craft Council. The Storque article which accompanied the treasury included comments on each item included.

I'm still enjoying this.

Deep Indigo

I think these are clever & well-done.

Hand Embroidered Zipper
Deep Indigo on Etsy.
$6-8
These would look great on the outside of a garment.

Wishful crochet ~

I love cardigan sweaters & this one is especially unique & appealing. It's from Teva Durham's Loop-d-Loop Crochet. It has the vintage + modern thing happening. I really like the motifs, the open fan-like scallops; but wonder whether the finished fabric would get caught on things like knobs or pencils or other things I encounter when I move about? Would the fabric be heavy? I wonder whether the jacket would have to be carefully arranged on my body - draped & realigned often? It's made using a huge hook (J). I really hope to give it a try.

Crochet is a mood - thing for me; I get in the mood. Then the hunt begins for a likable pattern; far more challenging than locating a great knitting pattern. This book has new applications & interesting ideas & I think it succeeds in translating the author's unique design aesthetic into 'crochet'.

Fun to make...

I really enjoy making these; lately I've been adding charms to most of them. Most also have at least one vintage component. No Haiku today.

New today; 'vintage Japan' cards

This spun cotton peacock is my #1 favorite 'vintage Japan' christmas item. I bought it several years ago & it has its own story. In order to best express my emotions about this bird, I've written a Haiku.

Custom Slipper Project...

I had fun making these pom poms today with pink angora, some silk & wool laceweight, a bit of shetland, & some shiny rayon...
The slipper fabric was a dove grey, now its a muted lilac. It's a super soft angora & wool blend. All set.

Portugese jewelry designer Vania Barbosa; whose work with felt especially intrigues me.

These are cozy.

And complete. The cashmere lining really works .
I'm still developing patterns in various sizes. Thanks to SadieLouWho, I can fit a 10.
